Critical to Our National Security

Our future as a nation depends in part on our ability to continue to grow our economy. American ingenuity continues to be the red hot fire that fuels our economic growth — but much of the innovation in our economy requires copper. Across every sector — from renewable energy to hybrid vehicles to the exploding companies of the Internet age — copper matters. Copper’s role in our economy makes it of the utmost importance to our national security, especially at a time when nation competitors like China are experiencing a similar thirst for copper.
Part of the challenge is that copper manufacturers are also dealing with lower concentrations of copper in the ore currently being mined. This limits the amount of copper that can be produced, even as demand increases, unless new deposits can be mined. Copper matters — and it is a growing and critical part of our nation’s future.
